Durian CSA Details

In the summer season, 2017, we launched our first CSA which allowed local Big Island durian lovers to pre-order three varieties of fresh, ripe durian from our farm.

For the 2020 season, we have a medium-size crop of durians, ripening in late October to early November (estimate).  We have lots of the Orange Temple variety this year (no limit on orders).  We have fewer Golden and White, and we are limiting purchases to 1 order per customer on these (this may be changed later in the season).

This year we are offering CSA share boxes of 12 lbs of both Golden and Orange varieties.  We are also offering 20 lb boxes of our White variety.  If you order 20 lbs, this means you'll receive a minimum of 20 lbs of fruit, but not much more than that.  How many durians is that?  For example, 20 lbs. of durian would typically be 2 large durians or 3-5 smaller ones.

What's a CSA?  CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, which is a system that connects farmers with local consumers by way of a type of subscription which helps balance out the risks of farming between the producer and consumer.  The CSA model was brought to the U.S. by two European farmers in the mid-1980s who were influence by the biodynamic farming ideas of Rudolph Steiner.  [ More info about CSAs ]

What about delivery?  Your CSA share can be picked up at our farm in Kapoho on Papaya Farms Road.  You will be notified by email or a phone call when you can come and pick up your share.  The durians will be boxed up for your convenience.  We can also deliver to Pahoa at no additional charge, and to Hilo if your order is over $60.

What about ordering and payment?  This online store will be the only way to order and pay for CSA shares.  We use Square which is a secure way to make your payment using a credit or debit card.  If you have no way to pay with a card, please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

What is the price per pound?  Between $4.75 and $5.67, depending on the variety.

Do you have wholesale pricing?  Not at this time.

Can I pay with EBT?  Not at this time.

Will the durian be ripe?  Yes.  We only sell durian that has fallen from the tree naturally, and is either perfectly ripe or a few days from being perfectly ripe.  This is when we make your share available for pick-up or delivery.  We encourage you to eat the durian right away, as soon as it passes the perfect ripeness test – please email us for details.

Thanks in advance for your support!
